mixed up thoughts

Well I had a nice day at Christmas again, I ate and slept and it was all good. Though I do think I am getting more tiered from the long hours of work each year, which makes things a little hard to enjoy lading up to it. Now as I usually do here is the list of what was got...

Tim and I were spoilt this year which was a surprise. We got a lot of cooking utensils (cake lifters, tongs, graters, serving spoons and salad servers, extra glasses and coming soon some good cutlery. Tim also got a lot of vinyl stuff - like coasters in the shape of records, a I love/play vinyl t-shirt .. and I cant remember the rest. All this was from Aunt Kerri, Nona and Uncle Alex. Christy got us each a shirt. Mum got Tim a ceramic peeler, chocolates and donkey kong jenga. I got clothes from mum and El - 5 shirts (a mix of summer and winter) and a lovely leather horse bookstop (which is just going to be used as decoration). El, Andrew and Lani got Tim Modern Warfare 2 with the night vision goggles, which are awesome! and I got a top from Andrew and Lani (the only one not to fit me :()Tim got me explosum tshirt and a naked man plush from explosum. So in love! I got him ps3 TV, some munchkin stuff and Dinosour comics plush. Its so cool..and HUGE! T-rex is a pillow!!!!!

We also got Beatles rock band from Tim's mum and sister, which as been played and finished... we are now making our way through rock band. Andrew is our drummer and Lani shares the singing with me, while Tim's on guitar. It's a lot of fun! :) and quiet funny with how obsessed Andrew is becoming with the drums :P.... still its good, but we found the rock band kit (mic, drums and guitar) for $40 at Target. so now Andrew has one for his own....Thank you for the cookies Marija - they are yum! and Peetree got me an assortment of giant microbes (YAY!) and a shocking ball...much fun tooo! thank you!

I was lucky enough to have yesterday morning off (so I could continue to do the nights) and we ended up at Uncles setting up his PS3. In this process we needed to by some cables which resulted in me getting frustrated and impulse buying a PSP. Now it doesn't work as I thought but I'm still happy with it. Its a gadget. Tim's not so impressed. So we'll see if we take it back or what. It really doesn't connect to the Ps3 playTV which it should so i think something is wrong with it anyway. They have also got intermezo glasses on sale in kosta boda for $20! So my second impulse by was for el (who will pay me back) and I got her 6 flutes.

argh ok better get off to do some work

as for me 84...85 is first class! So i'm pretty stocked. upset yea but stocked considering what i went through. Anita was even surprised. ... font no if that's a good sign or not but i'm stoked!

on another note we got rock band Beatles for Christmas. It was 364 and we picked it up for 149!!!! so awesome! this i think is the only reason we got it... but yay sing and drum away

yes that is right - completly done. presentation didnt go to badly i dont think. I dont think i handle the questions well, but my talk went without problems :) so this was good. I have now been moved to a staff member which is cool :P go working for uts...a nicer spiffy email address and money :P

but the main point of this is that i am finished! very releaved. now it is off to work to unpack some stock before coming back forreveiw time....if i can make it....

You know how you just no when things are gonna suck and not be as good as you want it to be. Well since i worked on my thesis from hmmmm 12 midday yesterday through to 7am this morning, had a 4hrs nap and have started again....*shakes head* I still only have 1000 words in my discussion and think i have muddled up the results values.....blah...this is majorly going to suck

I have managed to get out of work on saturday! this isdefinately awesome!

As for thesis update:
intro - done (well bar one small section)
Methods - done (fixing formats and some small things)
Results - 3/4 done

to do abstract, discusion andconclusion - adn well layout...sounds liek a biggy, but everything i need for it is written just depends what intro it goes into (methods, results or into sections).... silly science layouts

So i am half way there with 3days to go! wooot! and most of what is done has been checked and supevisor semi happy with...well lets say since she is marking it it is fine. but i dont think tis worth more then a 2nd class....still :)

wellm y thesis-ing isnt going so well. I have manged to get my analysis done, but have not even bothered looking at the results. This i should do since i have also not written anything. in short I have played video games for at least 4days now. It should also be noted that i have been quiet sick. ... still reading im sure would be a better solution. *sigh* today i didnt do anythign excpet drive to mona vale to tutor yr 12 chem for 2hrs. y do i really not want to do anything :(

I dislike it when shops close earlier then they are ment to. I missed my afternoon coffee yesterday as I went down at 5. shops close at 4 during uni breaks. So today I went down at 3:40. 20minutes to go!! and they were closed. I mean really..if it was 5minutes I would understand but 20minutes! thats a lot of possible coffees! *grumbles*

and you'd think id have nice results nad just doing writing. WRONG! my gels arent working and the stupid program to analysis them is just that - STUPID with capitals and underlined! *sigh* i was hoping to have it all done by tomorrow and results written up so i could do another cell line. but i dont tink so.

In other news i cant hekp but notice my motivation is gone since i want to take the whole day off tomorrow for breakfast, lunch and dinner :) its nice going out wit ppl. :P

This one here is like the one below, but it is the drug treated cell line. The V = v cells, T= T cells and C= control. Oh and M=marker. This one the marker turned out much nicer. And the gel went for longer which was nice :). But the line that the red arrow is pointing too was were the machine shut it self off and wouldn't speak to the computer so I lost about 1hrs worth of data. *sigh* i do like this machine..*glares at it*

OK so since I am at uni I thought I would post up some of my results. This is the nicest gel I have done :) and hey its of Rushtons's cell line the K562's (these ones can be killed by drugs :P)...well at least I think i called these ones Rushton. Anyway - the cells were killed and their DNA extracted, and this is a picture of their DNA patterns. The first one is a control, so there is no UV treatment to get pretty patterns. The next three were UV-ed while the cells were still alive (aren't I nasty :P) (V cells) and the next however many (since I cant see the pic as I'm typing this)were UV-ed after I killed the cells (T cells).

With this gel I was trying to get all the band at about the same intensity. So they had different load volumes and such. Hence why there are alot of T cells since they were a bit weak previously. The funny thing at eh very end is a marker so i no what size things are :)

that is a bunch of swearing cos we got robbed again last night. Tim came to pick me up at 740, did a little food shopping and home by 830 to find the back door unlocked, all our bags thrown across the floor, draws open with jewellery everywhere (no idea how they found that cos i have proplem remembering where i put them), both the computers gone (again), my 7yr 40gig Ipod gone and my canon camera gone . They even through the cloths from the closet everywhere- what fuckers! in 40MINTUES! i fucking hate newtown!

*grumbles*

I had my op yesteday. it went well and im not in pain :) yay. there are four holes in my tummy and its a bit stiff... best part is having 2 days off :) yup today and yesterday was sleeping time :) woot :)

also cool thing... the doc gave me photos of my inner parts that were removed :) ;P pretty cool to think that one of the tiny holes in my belly supported a camera :P

well I'm sitting in my lab waiting for my supevisor again. But at least my lab computer works well now :) I am finally running the PCR step. the last step i have to learn YAY! it goes for 2 days and currently anita hasnt come back from that short meeting she had. (starting at 12) so i might be here for a while tonight as today is a long set up day. I havent been keeping my cells healthy lately :( i've been a bit sore and its hard to book the room when yuo dont know when you can make it in there. So i have left them. hopefully they dont die...i have it booked for tomorrow but i will see how i go. i might need to change that but if im here late i might even get in tonight :) :P... so we will see. I'm eargely awaiting my marks as well. not so much eagerly but ner vously. the comments weren't good and since i have actually started writing up my thesis (shock horror!!!) i want some feedback. I haven't done much, but the methods and intro to the methods. At least I have been motivated.

I also go in for my op next week, which i havnet reminded my supevisor yet we'll see how well that goes down. but if i get some thing written ( i should need at least 2 days off) it shouldnt be too bad. :) this is also why i have started it now :P hehehe....anyway i shouldnt really need her from the end of this week... hopefully. as she is going away for 3 weeks too... :) yay on my own :P jk i like the help and company but yea.... I may actually get lunch which would be awesome :)....

well i better go and just sit around waiting. just to make sure i dont seem too distracted for her :P.....

Pete had to leave early on Sunday. A kid from his work got caught serving alchol to a minor. So since Pete is manager he had to cut his holiday short to sort it out or something. either way he left tim with 2 free IMAX tickets. So tim decided to pick me up from work and take me to see star trek 11.

OMFG! that is one of the best movies i have seen for a while. in the sence that it was everything the star wars episodes 1-3 should have been. it was funny, adventure, geeky and just so dam cool. So awesome that we went to see it a second time at the normal cinema's directly after it finished. I can't wait for the next one (in hopeing they do one) and i do want to see it again. I think i now get hte trekkie stuff. I have never seen a star trek thing before so i had no interest to see it, except that dad loved it and this movie has the original spok.

In any case. see it in the normal cinema's as you can actually graps what is going on. then see it at IMAX cos the huge still shots of space shouldnt be seen anywhere else :)
